Responsible for food preparation, cashiering, weekly ordering, monthly inventory, completing daily production records, meeting sanitation standards, and overseeing daily breakfast and lunch of school food services in the elementary cafeteria. Overseeing and assisting cafeteria workers with preparation and serving, confirming quantities and quality of food items, providing written reports, and complying with mandated health requirements.  

 

Essential Functions:

* Cleans utensils, equipment, storage, food preparation, and serving areas.

* Collect payments for food items.

* Estimate food preparation amounts and adjust recipes accordingly.

* Evaluate prepared food for flavor, appearance, and temperature.

* Inspect food and/or supply deliveries to verify quantity, quality, and specifications of orders and/or complying with mandated health requirements.

* Inventories food, condiments, supplies, and equipment.

* Maintains equipment, storage, food preparation, and serving areas in a sanitary condition.

* Manages assigned site operations (supervise personnel, create menus, monitor meal accounts, etc.)

* Monitors food service operations (kitchen equipment, trays, utensils, staff assignments, etc.)

* Orders food, equipment, and supplies.

* Oversees the preparation, cooking, and serving of food and beverage items.

* Prepares a variety of documentation (meal program records, reconciliation reports, cash summary, etc.)

* Serves items of food that meet mandated nutritional requirements.

* Supervise food service workers and other personnel as assigned.

* Help to orient new employees to the work center.

* Participate in meetings, in-service training, workshops, etc.

* Processes receipts, prepares bank deposits.

* Reconciles transactions (meal counts, monies collected, etc.)

* Responds to students and staff.

* Stocks food, condiments and supplies as needed.

* Performs other related duties as assigned.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

* High School graduate or equivalent.

* Previous food service experience required; supervisory experience preferred.

* Ability and personality to be able to deal with students, teachers other support personnel and the public.

* Physical capacity to perform all assigned duties.

* ServSafe certification will be required after 30 days.

 

Hours:  6 hours per day (10 months)

Salary:  $15.94 per hour after successful completion of the probationary period.
